SriKalahasti ,a rare privilege to talk about this divine destination, is on the banks of Swarnamukhi River and one of the ‘Pancha Bootha’ sthalams of Lord Shiva. Devotees have been celebrating Him as the embodiment of Vayu (Air) since its inception from the 10th Century.
The great architecture of the temple along with 120 feet gopuram was first commissioned during the reign of King Sri Krishnadeva Raya in 1516 AD.
Lord Shiva is worshipped as ‘Sri Gnana Prasunambika Devi Sametha Srikalahastheeswara Swamy’ here is believed to be as powerful as His representation in Kasi as ‘Viswanatha’ and hence this place is also famous as ‘South Kasi'(Dakshina Kasi). Also referred to as Dakshina Kailasam (“Kailash of the South”)
Srikalahasti Temple, (13°44′58″N 79°41′54″E – hyperlink ) is just 36 kms from Tirupati (From the state of Andhra Pradesh). The uniqueness and pride of this temple lies in the fact of being only one Deity from Andhrapradesh representing the Pancha Bhoota Stalams

Srikalahasti Temple, one of the most ancient Shiva Kshethram in India is The Swayambhu (natural) and
also referred to as Dakshina Kailasam ( “Kailash of the South”) and Rahu-Ketu Kshethram for the rituals and offerings being done here for these two deities Rahu, Ketu.
Unlike the tradition followed in all other temples, Srikalahasti Temple is the only temple in India that remains open even during solar and lunar eclipses. Devotees from all over the world visit this temple especially to perform Rahu Ketu Pooja rituals. It is strongly believed that by offering Rahu Ketu Pooja rituals here followed by worshipping Sri Gnana Prasunambika Devi Sametha Srikalahastheeswara Swamy fulfills their prayers and provides positive energy (like good health, good relationships, financial, etc.)
Rahu and Ketu are powerful influencer planets and affect good or bad with various other factors depending on the birth star and zodiac sign of the devotees. This Pooja is purposefully performed to get out Rahu-Ketu dosham, which obstructs progress in various aspects of life. Usually performed each day, inside the temple premises between 6 AM to 6PM . However, Preferably most of the devotees do their offerings to these deities as suggested by their astrologers who guide the timings based on their birth charts.
Generally observed, more devotees were recorded performing Rahu Ketu Pooja rituals during rahu kalam timings of Sundays (4:30 PM – 6PM) and Mondays (7:30 AM – 9 AM).
Devotees who wish to perform Rahu Ketu Pooja rituals at Srikalahasti Temple have to purchase the tickets on that day just before their slot
at the respective ticket counters located in the temple premises. As of today, there is no facility for advance online Booking for Rahu Ketu Pooja
Reservations at Srikalahasti temple.
This Rahu Ketu pooja ticket cost varies from Rs.500 to Rs.5000 (Rs500 , Rs750 , Rs1500 , Rs2500 , Rs5000). 500 and 750 tickets available at the counter between Pathala Ganapathi and Mahanandi (between Gate 2 and Gate3), whereas 1500, 2500 and 5000 tickets sold at counter opposite near Dwajasthambam (between Gate 3 and Gate 4).
A pooja kit is provided with each ticket containing Rahu, Ketu idols inside the pack and all materials required for the ritual so that you don’t need to be concerned about the requirements from your side, except that you should be in traditional attire (dhoti, shirt for Gents and saree for ladies acceptable). Size of Silver Rahu, Ketu idols varies per the price. The ticket price also differentiates the darshan timings and type of Prasadams. Pooja will be performed inside the temple for 2500 and 5000 tickets, while for other tickets pooja will be performed outside the main temple at different locations within premises.
Rahu Ketu Pooja will be performed in batches for all the ticket ranges and usually, it will take 30 – 45 mins to complete the pooja .
